1893 thru 1898 - The Need For A Church
First Christian Church in Richmond recognized a need for a church in eastern Richmond.
Construction began on the first building known as the Second Christian Church, building was dedicated in 1898.

1939 - First Church Name Change
Church name changed from Second Christian Church to Big Hill Avenue Christian Church.

1954 - Original Building Replaced
Original building on Big Hill Avenue was replaced with the existing building (front half).
Building was completed and dedicated in 1954.

1970 thru 1980 - Original Building Replaced
During 1970s and 1980s discussions continued about moving the congregation and building a new facility, but nothing material was ever accomplished.

1996 - Why Move?
Very limited parking, church owned only two parking spaces, no place for any outside activities, no room for any type of expansion, entrances opened right onto active streets, and building was nearly 50 years old.

Vision statement for the Church was formulated which included to purchase 10 acres in Madison County, build a new multi-purpose facility, and move the congregation.

1998 - Property Located
God led the Growth committee to 10 acres of gently rolling land located on Goggins Lane near Barnes Mill, which was not even for sale at the time.

2009 - Church Name
With the move to Goggins Lane, the name of the church changes from Big Hill Avenue Christian Church to just Big Hill Christian Church.

August 16, 2009 - First Service at 1150 Goggins Lane
Big Hill Christian Church conducts their first Sunday Morning Service at 1150 Goggins Lane. What a Journey!
